We went there once while we passing through Norwich and I tried the Big D decaf coffee. I’m a bit of a barista and a great lover of good coffee. I had to change to decaf recently and have been in search of a good medium strength dark roast. I’ve finally found it and am a huge fan. When there they were very friendly and helpful. I now order online for my coffee beans to Craftsman Cliff Roasters and couldn’t be happier!

I bought their light roast beans and despite being absolutely delicious, they were more towards medium dark. I mentioned it to them in passing by their store, they thanked me and gifted me one of their chocolates for my feedback, which was absolutely delicious as well! Certainly artisanal, so not silky smooth like most commercial chocolates, but super flavorful! I will give their light roast another try and definitely getting another chocolate along with it!

Google Maps lists no hours and said "This business may be closed", and asked me to confirm whether it was open or closed. So I checked it out. Apparently they are still roasting coffee but are mainly wholesale. They have no business hours and you can't walk in off the street to buy coffee but you can still purchase from their website. There are also businesses in the area, including a coffee shop nearby, where you can buy their coffee. Not sure whether the coffee shop has their beans for sale or just brewed coffee and espresso. Update: I can confirm that the lattes I got two days in a row from the nearby coffee shop, "Cream", were super delicious. They had a few bags of beans for sale so I picked up a bag of "Goodie." We'll see if it makes good espresso at home (I think it will).

Thoroughly impressed with Craftsman Cliff. Matt is so passionate about his craft. The chocolate is amazing. I look forward to many more trips to the roastery. Highly recommended!

Such a great place to stop in for a coffee or tea and a bite to eat! My boyfriend and I wear pleasantly surprised by how good the grilled cheese was, the bread was a honey wheat (I believe) and really seemed to make it! Also, the little details are very sweet! The what seems like handmade mugs, and these small plates (image below) with their logo is such a great touch!!

This place is awesome. As soon as you walk in, the smell is so nice! Everyone here is so friendly and helpful. The coffee and chocolate are equally both fantastic. Really high quality. Spoke to Reese today. He was the man! Thanks so much you guys :)

Fantastic Connecticut coffee roaster serving all of New England. The owner is deeply passionate about his work and a commitment to quality in his sourcing and processing. He works tirelessly with a ton of local businesses, supporting many community initiatives. Outstanding wholesale coffee. You can find it at BigY as well as boutiques like Just Mystic Brand in downtown Mystic, CT.

Craftsman Cliff Roasters is roasting quality coffee beans in the best way! The owner is so committed to roasting the best beans and is excited to talk about the process and his roasting machines. This is no longer a coffee shop with brewed drinks, I made that mistake based on older reviews when they were serving drinks, but I'm so glad we wandered in. The guys clued us in to Cream and La Stella's (love them both!) where their beans are used to make fantastic coffee. We had a great conversation with the guys that work there because my mom sews handbags out of coffee bean burlap bags. I love, love, love the art on the packaging for their coffee beans! The beans are flavorful and make the best grind. I use them for espresso shots. Craftsman is worth a visit, even if you buy their product at another location!

My wife and I were part of a small group that got a hands-on, behind-the-scenes tour, and I loved their coffee before we went, but I'm a little obsessed after this tour. The amount of effort that goes into their coffee is evident the first time you taste it, and on the tour I gained a greater appreciation for the skill and attentiveness required to make great coffee (we even roasted some and took it home with us). This place is incredible; if you've never had their coffee, do yourself a favor and run, don't walk, to your nearest Big Y.
